The current accounting rules for accounting for loan losses were in part responsible for the failures of community banks in the wake of the financial crisis, according to a report by the Government Accountability Office.
In light of this revelation, are we in the OECS placing enough emphasis on the role of accounting in the economic stability and are therefore sufficiently regulated to minimize the chance of this being repeated in our Region?
